Most people walk past the
Heritage Centre as they rush to the Abbey and don't give it a second
glance!
Take half an hour to explore
this little treasure - it has displays and information on the history
and people of Iona covering the past 200 years (crofting, fishing and
Islanders' life). It also has a section dealing with the geology of the
island.
Tips:
The Iona Heritage Centre has
a small shop - as well as the usually touristy stuff it has a small
range of antique silver made on the island by Alexander Ritchie and
others. There can be few better presents to take away than a piece of
Ritchie silver!
Have lunchtime soup at the Church of Scotland café
- which is at the other side of the building.
